Restaurant in South West or West London for family birthday

After suggestions for somewhere nice to meet for a family birthday (8 adults)
Heading into London from the West and don't want to go into central. Any ideas on a nice place to have lunch/ afternoon/ early evening meal. Somewhere scenic or cool for the youngsters. Cuisine wise fairly simple Italian or British, French etc. Was thinking Richmond/ Hampton/ Kingston.

There's an Ivy Cafe in Richmond. They're always reliable and suit a wide range of ages.

If budget will stretch I would go for the River Cafe but that’s more Hammersmith way.

There are loads of lovely restaurants on the Riverside in Kingston upon Thames. I would have a wander along there and see what you fancy.
