Anyone’s child invited for their polio booster yet?

We had a letter from the NHS saying our GP surgery would contact us but haven’t heard yet. I wondered whether they will do them at school.

We received a link for one child today- there are virtually no appointments available and the odd few I have found are in school hours at places that will take around an hour to get to. It would be far more sensible to have this in school than have every child out of school for an hour or two of the coming weeks.

Still waiting here (Bromley borough). Friend in Wandsworth had her child’s done 2 weeks ago.

Received a text from the GP 2 weeks ago and DD had her jab last week - the nurse said all her afternoons are booked up with polio booster appointments. In Waltham Forest.

We got a letter from the NHS nothing from our surgery but heard on the grapevine that they were running clinics and called up to book.

They 💯 should have done this in school like they do the flu vax. They aren't going to get the uptake they need like this. Just another giant balls up.

I'm having trouble with this too. My GP surgery keeps sending me texts to books an appointment URGENTLY. I follow the link and 3 of the closest centres are fully booked. Even if we could get an appointment it's a minimum 45 minutes journey on public transport to get to one of them. Why they aren't doing it in schools I really can't understand.

Yes we have. I need to book it this week.

Booked direct with the gp - both kids done 2 weeks ago

Same here, haven’t heard anything from the GP. We’re in Lambeth.

Having said that our GP is also completely shit every year with pre-school flu jabs too (they told me last year “they weren’t doing them this year” which... no). Also crap at booking smears, returning calls, and renewing prescriptions. All of which pre-dates covid, they are just an incredibly badly-run surgery. So no great surprise. I’d be ecstatic if schools took this over.

Does anyone know if this just being rolled out in London and surrounding, or is it going to be offered to every child in U.K?

triedeyes · 31/10/2022 09:49

Just London

We haven't had anything despite two texts and letter saying that we will be contacted Confused.
