Wimbledon Common by public transport

The weather looks fine tomorrow so we want to get out into "the countryside" from Zone 2 and go to a London green space we haven't been before.

I fancy a trip Wimbledon Common/Canizaro Park/Putney Heath but it's so big that I can't work out a good route to take.

Can any locals please recommend a nice long scenic walk with interesting things to see starting and finishing at bus stops from which we can get to Putney/Wimbledon/South Wimbledon train/tube stations? Ideally with a good cafe or two en route.

93 bus goes to all of these places. You could perhaps start towards the Putney side, go round Wimbledon common, look at the windmill, pop into Cannizzaro house gardens, and finish up with a coffee in the village? It’s very wet now though so will be muddy first thing.
