Where do you buy prams in London?!

Expecting our first baby and we live in south east London… where on earth do you buy a pram?! We have a car so happy to drive out to Kent or whatever.

Ideally want a BIG warehouse type store where we can have a look at all sorts rather than be restricted to certain brands

John Lewis?

What's your budget?

BabyTurtIe · 05/03/2022 17:39

There used to be a pushchair shop in croydon

3WildOnes · 05/03/2022 17:43

I think we looked in John Lewis but we bought online.

Wnkingawalrus · 05/03/2022 17:43

John Lewis.

Makewomenfemaleagain · 05/03/2022 17:47

John Lewis, Bluewater.

avocadotofu · 05/03/2022 17:54

We're in South East London too, we got ours from John Lewis. We looked in store and ordered online.

NoviceMum90 · 05/03/2022 17:54

@BabyTurtIe I specifically want to see some in real life. I wouldn’t normally but something that expensive without actually viewing it first

We’re SE London/ Kent border. Went to JL on oxford street and Mamas and Papas in Croydon then ordered online.

NoviceMum90 · 05/03/2022 17:56

@justanothermanicmonday21 where/what’s Baby Barn? It has a promising name!

I have had a look in JL but they only seem to have the super expensive brands… we don’t have a Bugaboo budget!

Baby barn is excellent and has almost every pram under the sun.

It's just off the A3 if you Google 'A3 Baby Barn'

Winterfellismyhome · 05/03/2022 18:17

I bought mine at the baby show at excel centre

NoviceMum90 · 05/03/2022 18:22

@SexPeopleLynn fab! We’ll just head there I think :) thanks

No probs, just check opening times and when I went last year Saturday visits were appointment only to manage numbers.

ghislaine · 05/03/2022 18:27

There’s also Tommy’s in Peckham: www.tommysuk.com/.

Sadly the Mothercare and the Toys R Us on the Old Kent Road are no more.

Kayjay2018 · 05/03/2022 18:30

Might be a bit of a drive but Frills all round in uckfield had loads in stock to look at, see how to fold them, look at car seats and how to fit in your car etc

AnnaSW1 · 05/03/2022 18:48

John Lewis and mamas and papas

Twizbe · 05/03/2022 18:51

I think we went to the mamas and papas on Purley Way. We ordered it online though:

With number 2 we went to the baby show to look for double prams. Was really worth it.

You will end up buying more than one pram though. We currently own 3. We did have 4 and one point, 5 if you could the double as 2.

NoviceMum90 · 05/03/2022 19:15

Thanks for all the ideas!

@Twizbe is that really true?! Seems insane but that could be my first-time-mum naivety showing!

Yep. We got a great Stokke Crusi for my first. Amazing pram.

Then when we went on holiday we needed a smaller lighter one so got a mothercare nanu fold down stroller.

This got left with the in laws for when they looked after our son.

We got a Huack one from Aldi for the nursery run as didn't want to leave the big one in their small shed.

Then when number 2 was born we realised we needed a double and the stokke didn't work. We got a second hand Uppababy Vista which is amazing and wish we'd got this first time round. It would have saved us one pram at least lol.

justanothermanicmonday21 · 05/03/2022 22:52

I think most people will only have one or two, perhaps a smaller lightweight or go to a double with more children.

I brought my latest buggy from a3 baby barn they have lots of different brands, parking outside to try in cars, car seats etc and they price match too! Really highly recommend!

We did a baby appointment at John Lewis in Peter Jones and at Mamas and Papa's on Purley Way near Croydon. You can test all the buggies they have. We ended up buying an Uppababy Vista which wasn't one I had considered but i really liked it when i tried it.

The buggy shop near Croydon is still open - i drove past it on Monday. But apparently it's hard to park near there.
