Hello!
Looking for some advice from people living in london about a nice area to buy a first family home. Currently have 3 month old dd, looking for an area which is safe, friendly, has a nice high street/pubs etc, with good prep schools. Areas which have been suggested to me are Chiswick, Wandsworth and Putney; which (if any) of these would you recommend? And any other suggestions? Budget is 1mil tops and myself and Dh will be commuting to queen Chelsea and Charlottes hospital and London Bridge (although only occasionally as mostly wfh) Any advice greatfully received! Thankyou x

I think the journey from Wandsworth/Putney would be dreadful to Queen Chelsea and Charlottes hospital (unless anyone knows of an obscure bit of train line that links them) though it might be possible by bike. Richmond is on the overground so would be more do-able.

Wandsworth is not a bad shout.

There actually is a train that goes from Clapham Junction (or Balham or Wandsworth Common) to Shepherds Bush which would take you most of the way to QC &C. Then from Shepherds Bush it’s a longish walk or a couple of stops on then central line. It’s not the most frequent train but it does exist! Not a short journey though.

For London Bridge you’d just get the Northern Line from Balham or Clapham South, or from Clapham Junction it’s the train to Waterloo then the Jubilee line.

I would also suggest a look at Ealing, you’ll get more for your money.
