Hello,

I am currently on the housing waiting list in band 2 for a 2bed property in London. The question I want to ask for anyone that has been housed or know anyone that has been housed:

How long did you wait in band 2?
How long did you want to be housed?

This is just to help me to keep positive to get a place.

I am not sure if I am in the right group to post this if not could anyone tell me which group this is appropriate for.

Thank you

It's as good a place to post as any!

The trouble is, it's really difficult to say - it varies a lot between boroughs. For two bed in my area in the top two bands, it's taking about three years.

Sorry, that's probably not as optimistic as you would have hoped to hear, but unless you have specific needs that mean you must be housed as a priority, the wait is counted in years, not months.

Those in lower bands may not make it to the top of the queue ever (weird exception to that general rule of thumb, when I was working in that area, is singletons (almost invariably men) who can be placed in hard-to-let (ie sketchy) small properties)
