Tier 4 Christmas

Hi all,
So after the recent news, it looks like I will definitely be spending Christmas just me and my 2 year old daughter. My sister is a nurse and was called in today to work in ICU, so it's almost for definite that we should refrain from spending Christmas together, especially as my daughter goes to her dads and he lives with his vulnerable parents. Anyone else spending Christmas differently this year? I'm heading over to Tesco today to get either a small chicken or a turkey crown, hoping to make the most of a very small Christmas.

This will be a Christmas like no other for everyone. We will get through it.

With a 2yo I think keep it simple, keep it relaxed. PJs & tv for much of the day. You are allowed out for exercise so walk to a park if it's not rainy. Your DD will not have any expectations of the day and will not have any memories of it in a few weeks. In a few months the vaccine rollout will be done and we can celebrate then.

It will be different but you can still make it lovely. Stocking in the morning, nice easy breakfast (we are having croissants and pains au chocolat), open presents. Play with said presents. Go to the park for a play. You could maybe set up an easy sensory play activity to get a little bit of peace - at that age a tray of coloured rice with some containers to fill and empty would keep mine occupied for about half an hour. You could go out for a walk after it gets dark to look at Christmas lights. Then hopefully get DC to bed nice and early so you can enjoy a glass of wine and a Christmas film!

It's not (much) different for us as we usually spend Christmas Day together, just us, in London.

No midnight mass though.

We spread things out over the day (so presents aren't all opened first thing) and I at least try to get everyone outside for at least and hour (this was easier when DC were younger)

I was wondering about going for a long walk this evening - possibly into one of the more central bits, to see Christmas lights
