Should we pay for communal electricity upstairs if own a separate basement flat and never use main house?

We always have but I realise it’s really quite a lot a year that we don’t benefit from at all. I haven’t looked through all our legal papers but is this normal ?

Yes, you need to look through the paperwork to see. However, communal expenses are often split between everyone whether they benefit or not.

Thank you so much . I will check and it’s good to know it’s common but does annoy me as it’s about £120 a year we don’t get anything from! In fact it was a lot more and I changed the electricity provider
