LONDON train/tube

DD has an internship for one year in London, she will need to get a train and a tube from a zone 4 possibly 5 station. She has an Oyster card but is finding that she is having to top it up quite regularly. Is there a cheaper travel option for a 17yo. Thanks in advance. Rang TFL and they were pretty useless!

You can get your young person's railcard added to your Oyster card. Is she buying the longest travel card she can afford? Is her internship being paid? These should at least cover travel. Some employers give an interest free loan for a yearly season ticket.

Thank you grey clouds. I will look into getting her a young persons railcard. Internship is paid at minimal wage with expectation that fares will come out of that money. She is topping up daily at present, costing a fortune! No loan available as very small business but great opportunity for her.
Thanks again Smile

If she lives in London why doesn't she have a Zip oyster? Free travel on the bus and child fare tube.

Hi titchy

She does have a zip Oyster but only until she turns 18 in a few weeks, even with the zip trains/tubes are not free. Thanks
