Is London really that bad for children?

Because the Evening Standard has been reporting in a survey which rates it at the worst place in the UK

Main reasons are house prices and crime rates. The other factors they considered were access to green spaces, school rankings and average salaries. Not sure if they included other things, or how they weighted them.

Somewhat to my surprise, it said the best part of London to live in is Peckham. (or am I just hopelessly out of date?)

I am country all the way, used to visit family in London occasionally and the whole visit would stress me out. They lived in Richmond and it was so built up and confined.

I have my perfect home now where I am miles from everyone,

The neighbours and school parents would dress, speak and look just like us

I live in a village where DH, I and DS appear to be the only people not part of the local Borg Hive Mind, and it is actually fairly fucking eerie.

Acubed
What wild life in Trent park. I have been for a few walks there and not that impressed, more wild life in my back garden.

For a nice sunday afternoon wander prefer Myddleton gardens or Capel Manor. Cafes are not so overpriced either.

I grew up like BikeRunSki, same school but I lived in SW3. As a young child I didn't like it, as a teen it was great as I had a lot of freedom.

My oldest children lived some of their time in London. They don't really miss it. Sometimes they say they would love to go to a museum or something. Problem is when they were there, they moaned about 'not another museum' and often when we stay with my parents they get fed up after a few days, despite still having friends there and getting a taste of London life for tweens and teens. My two little ones are like crocodile dundee, they are completely lost in the city, if it wasn't for the buses and tubes they'd want to come back, they are currently off on their own, in London they would rely on me for their entertainment.

I think it really depends where and what you are comparing London life with.
