Moving to London from Paris...

I am moving to London from Paris next month !! Currently searching for somewhere for me and my daughter (16) to live and have settled on a nice two bedroom flat in Belgravia. We visited the place a few weeks ago and it all seemed very nice, but looking at comparable properties it seems a little expensive, even areas very close by were much cheaper!

Would I be a fool to buy in Belgravia, I do love the place and it has such a pretty south facing terrace which just can't seem to find anywhere else, but is the area overpriced. Any other recommandations?

ps. Excuse my English. My first MN post!!!

Belgravia is one of the most expensive parts of London, no getting round that. But if you can afford it and want to be that central, you'll have loads on your doorstep.

Very posh and expensive but because it's really nice. If you like it and can afford it, good luck. Where will your daughter go to school?

It's one of, if not the most expensive part of London.
Very transient, lots of embassies and second homes so not much of a community feel to it
But lots of great shops and restaurants on Elizabeth Street and around Sloane Square

It depends what your priorities are. Ultra-prime London (of whichever Belgravia is a part) has cooled a lot quicker than the rest of the market but it will always have enormous cachè so is unlikely to ever plummet

Have you also looked at Pimlico and Chelsea? Very close to Belgravia but a bit cheaper

Battersea, over the river, has a big French community and several bilingual schools
