NC for this. My dd's primary school have sent a detailed survey asking me to assess her learning. Made me panic. I need to rate her understanding from 1 to 5 in things like: 4 point grid references, equivalent fractions, onomatopoeia, alliteration, organisation of the galaxy.

Like many parents I've had to work and leave her to it. I check in at lunch time and DH does mid morning if he can. She likes to work independently and will only ask if she's stuck. I taught her in the first lo known by juggling my hours. But I didn't think I had to this time.
I feel like I've let her down but I'm angry with the school for asking me.

She mainly gets worksheets online. Completes them and the teacher gives a recoded message on some of the work she's done each day. Has anyone else had to give this kind of feedback?

I'm a teacher. If I was in your shoes I wouldn't fill it in. Ignore it for as long as you can. If they push write a short letter saying its not appropriate for your circumstances. Also, you sound like you are a great mum.

Nope. I’m a teacher as well and I wouldn’t be filling this in!

I don't think it's parent's job to assess children, it's teacher's job!

Thank you all so much. This just about pushed me over the limit.

It's been hard enough doing this with my own class never mind in your shoes. You don't have to do the schools admin. Just be careful about how you opt out of it.

Mapless · 26/02/2021 21:01

I was thinking of just ignoring it...

Do that. Definitely do that.

Ignore it! I hate how we are expected to just be okay with this. We are surviving this pandemic. I personally didn't homeschool all the time.
