Easing up on the home learning

This might just be me but since finding out that the kids are going back in two weeks does anyone feel like easing up on the home learning and just enjoy spending time with the children, instead of being stressed out about teaching them!?

My DD has only been at home 2 days a week (DH is a KW) but was self-isolating the last week before half term. Her school has a well-being day on a Friday and a whole well-being week that week so I don't think it's just you!

We have been using our Fridays (my day off) to explore new parks, except for that week before half term when she was stuck in, poor girl.

Yes! But still getting prodded by his teacher too much to relax anything.... it's like pulling teeth trying to get my 7 year old to do schoolwork ☹ It doesn't help all the pressure and work they've given us this time round, I think its complete piss take. So will you relax things do you think?

I seem to have decided to ease up, had half term off and work has been cray so yeah he's doing much less. its been awful anyway so far.

I've explained to school that we have enough battles at home so I will read the work and try and implement it without it being work such as board games, drawing comics and reading together.

I worry though as DS is bright but does have SN but then I worry about him no matter what he does or doesn't do!

Yup. The closer to the end it is, the least I can be bothered to do. Happened last time too.

I have totally slacked this week after hearing the news! It has been a relief.

It's just coincidence that it's almost time to go back to school
My child is not in the least engaged in it (she's 7) in fact I think it's put her off school
She's worse than ever with it (that's saying something as she was never good with the learning from home)
We have done nothing today and I have had enough of the whole of it
Frankly I don't blame her for not being engaged

(oh and no, it's not like we're up to date either so of course we shouldn't have done nothing today)
But there you go
However yes I am still stressed by it cos I know it's there and I know she should be doing it

Phew glad its not just me then! We have been doing some of the lessons like phonics and maths but nothing to taxing!

If I cancelled ‘schoolwork time’ in the mornings I would be playing pretend or saying No to screens (or giving in and using screens) for heading towards 14 hours a day - so no, homeschool to the bitter end!

We did obviously have half term off but that has used up more than a third of my current creative and outdoor ideas, I’m saving any other inspiration for Easter...
