So I've home schooled my kids for the last 6 weeks (plus 1st lockdown) and also had my DSS for this half term (plus half of last lockdown) DSS has only gone back for a few hours, once a week, (as thats what he wanted) but he's been here otherwise. DP has been working so just me and kids all day (I hate to say it but I love it...they're amazing kids) now both parents that aren't here want them for half term. I'm so upset I won't get 'free time' with the kids. I've worked so hard with them. Not that I want to deny them time with other parents...they can have them the week after or week before...but I've beenhome schooling them for weeks...would love to have them here for some free time? AIBU? My first post so please go easy

You're probably not being unreasonable and it sounds as though you've stepped up and done a great job. It's a complex situation in very complex times. I can't see an easy answer, I'm afraid. I didn't just want to read & run.

Have you suggested to the other parents that you have them for some of the holiday and they have them for some of the first week after term starts?

I completely get it. If you do all the hard bits of looking after kids, you want some of the fun time too.
