Workbook recommendations yr 6/7 please

Hi. I bought some workbooks for my year 6 boy but they arrived and it's just tests. He needs to have something to learn first! Has anyone used a book that has a lesson THEN a test? Thanks so much. The ones I got are Collins and CGP Year 7 workbooks in english, science, and maths.
