Working from home and home schooling

How much schooling are you able to do? I’m feeling like I haven’t done enough with my DD (10) as I my work is completely absorbing there is no way I can do both at once. My work is classed as key work so I have cracked and send her to school on the days I work ( it’s actually been very good the kids socially distance, not sure how it will work with more kids there in June)
But I just don’t know how people are coping with work and home schooling. I manage a few hours a day. It seems fairly impossible to me to get in much more

I am in Oz and schools are back now but it was TERRIBLE.

I couldn't do much at all.

My DDs are 15 and 12....they both needed a lot of motivating and the younger one had to be watched like a hawk....or she'd just not do anything.

I could not manage more than an hour a day.

We are very lucky in that our school does full online curriculum (zoom based), so minimal input required.

You are lucky myself. We've had none of that. I have 3 primary aged kids and I'm trying to work. They've nicked my computer and laptop too. I'm really struggling now. Trying to work in the evenings/night but bloody exhausted.
It's so hard to keep it up when there's no end in sight. :(

School have been dreadful. It had all been down to me and I can't see any change for many months really. I've just registered to try a private school that is teaching online for him.

@myself2020 is that a state or private? Not to be nosy am just curious as s lot of state schools seem to be resisting that approach

My children are getting no home schooling with us. Myself and husband both work full-time. I print off what the school pits on Google classroom and my kids complete it. I intend to correct it but it never happens as I often have to work late at the moment. The teachers are ringing around to "make sure the kids aren't sitting in front of the TV" which is really supportive and helpful. I'm just hoping it is short term and return in September. I feel anguished about it.

@NeverTwerkNaked private. in the moment, you get what you pay for in many cases unfortunately.
we were forced out of the state system, and it turned out to be for the best now. but the fees seriously hurt, and you shouldn’t be forced to pay for your child to get an education!

I wish people didn't use the term homeschooling. That's really not what we are doing in most cases. We are looking after our children while they do some activities to keep busy, some of which might be educational, some might be provided by school but it's not home schooling.

Using this term puts too much pressure on people juggling children and work and just isn't fair or true.

@myself2020 I thought that would be the case. I 've just registered my son forms private school and i can't even put into words how excited he is to be getting loads of lessons again.

It is going to be painful financially but I mainly just feel sad for all the children who really want lessons (albeit online if necessary) but haven't got the choice

Any recommendations for a private school doing online learning or a tutor who can come to my house (my preference)? I’m at the end of my tether juggling a high stress job and a child who just gets sent lots of work and somehow we’re supposed to magic up the time to get him through it. There isn’t even a date for us to look forward to when it will end!
