Lockdown learning
What about learning screen time?
blinkboo · 03/04/2020 10:36
If my kids are spending a couple of hours each day learning online (which they are between Joe Wicks, live science and history classes, drawing with Rob and whatever their teachers send), does that mean that they shouldn't really be having ordinary tv / gaming screen time?
I wonder if anyone knows the science behind it? Either way I'm going to still let them have a bit because have to at the moment but I would like to know if it all counts as the same.
Oh they are 9 and 6 if that makes a difference.

I don't know about science, but I would limit the additional screen time as much as possible. There are so many ideas for leisure not involving screens.

For those over 2 years of age, screen time should be kept at around 1-2 hours a day.

This is a very hard topic, normally I do not allow my kids to have more than 1 hour of a screen time a day. However due to COVID and and the first lockdown we have had to bypass that rule so they can attend online classes. At the moment just to keep them occupied I am allowing them spend a lot longer looking at screens however I am worried about what long term effects this may cause.
