what to do with a couple of children?

I moved to Warrington a year ago and have 2 children (18 months and 3).

Can anyone give me any ideas about what to do with them during the summer when all the clubs close?

Also, I would like to take them swimming. Is there a decent pool with facilities for changing 2 young children?

Tricia, I moved here a month a go and have an 18 month old! I have been looking for things for us to do too!

Warrington council website has details of the pools. They seem to have parent & baby sessions on different days (Fordton today for example so I may take DD).

Where abouts are you? My searches have all been around WA4 but I've found softplay (Latchford), Cafes where children can paint on ceramics (Stockton Heath & Latchford), Walton Hall Childrens Zoo, lots of mums & tots groups, Stockley Farm, Applejacks farm/adventure type place.

Sorry for the lack of links. DD is emptying the kitchen drawers as I type!

We moved to WA4 so everything I know about tends to be around here.

Alexandra and Victoria parks have good playgrounds but Victoria park can have a few boistrous older children.

Grappenhall Heys has a pretty walled garden and an OK walk behind it. Marbury Park is also a nice open space for children (and dogs) to run around in but is a 10-15 minute drive away.

Haven't tried the ceramic cafe in Stockton Heath - haven't dared with a 3 and 1 year old bent on creating havoc!

Was going to check out Risley Moss up at Birchwood and Lymm reservoir for walking (although my 3 year old has entered that phase where walking is simply not possible).

I try to get my two outdoors as much as possible. They're a lot happier and therefore so am I!

I don't know either of those parks, are they near Stockton Heath?

I'm taking my 18 month old to the ceramic cafe this week - I have a feeling I'll regret it but I'm meeting a friend there so I'm going to brave letting DD loose on some paint!

Bridgewater High school also has a leisure centre which has parent and child sessions, I'm not sure how you'd do that with a 3 year old and a 1 year old though.

I have heard that Marbury is lovely so will add that to our summer to do list. I agree, lots of time outdoors is a good thing. DD has a thing about running at the moment, it's the absolute most fun thing for her.

Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden has activities for children on many Sundays - pond dipping, making animals out of veg. Also they sell great fruit and veg grown in the gardens - we love it!

Story time at Stockton Heath library on Tuesdays at 11am.

Geronimos (indoor play centre) in Stockton Heath is not bad when the weather is rubbish.
