Hi, this is my first pregnancy. Would love to meet up for chats, laughs and shared joys, shocks and starts in sunny Hither Green!

Hi Philomeena,

Also my first pregnancy, due in March, still very new to all things mumsnet, infact today's my first day on it! I'm in Greenwich at the moment but moving back to good ol' Hither Green in a few weeks. I saw you posted this about a month ago - have you managed to find any groups/other people in and around Hither Green? Hope all's going well.

clarewithoutani · 30/08/2010 13:44

Hi ladies - nice to know there are other new mums to be in Hither Green! Hope you are both doing well. I am almost five months along - have my 20-week scan next week. This is my first time on the site but if you're up for chats, I am too. Best, Clare x

Hi, I'm new to it all too, 4 months and in Hither Green. Feel very daunted by it all so any shared thoughts would be good!

Was thinking of doing the Blackheath pregnancy yoga as thought that as well as helping prepare, it might be a good way of meeting local people?

clarewithoutani · 21/09/2010 23:38

Hi Aiks and congrats! A friend of a friend teaches that class and it's meant to be great but sadly yoga just isn't for me as I have an injury that inflames when I do regular yoga (my friend is also a yoga teacher). I do an aerobics class at Ladywell Leisure Centre and have an excellent teacher who just makes sure I stick to low impact and also gives me different stretches to the rest of the class.

LLCoolK29 · 03/10/2010 18:44

Hi there, good to hear from you and hope things are going well! I'm going to have a look into the Blackheath yoga classes. Next week I'm trying out aqua aerobics at Colfes it's not specifically ante-natal but apparently suitable and very close by.

Have any of you signed up for the NCT Antenatal classes? I';ve got the option to register for the Blsckheath "intensive" course, but have been very much turned off by the price (£250!). Seeing as theLewisham hospital NHS ones are free I may just stick to those...

Hi girls, just saw your post about pregnancy Yoga in Blackheath, I used to do it during the whole pregnancy (my son is 7 months old now) and it was brilliant! you relax during the class, meet other mums and also get some tips for ways to reduce pain during labour, I would highly reccomend the class, it is run by Julie, she's really lovely! and now me and Henry are attending baby yoga :)

clarewithoutani · 17/10/2010 22:36

Hi LLCoolK - yes the other NCT classes in Lewisham are running weekdays between 12-4pm - great if you don't work but pants if you do. Alternative is New Cross but that's pushing it - no pun intended - if you want to meet local mums. I'm going to give the Lewisham hospital ones a go too. They are taken by my midwife and she's great!

How did you find aqua class at Colfe's? I'm giving Greenwich Arches class a go this week.

Kasia - what's baby yoga like?! x

kasiababyhenry · 18/10/2010 15:09

baby yoga's great! there are exercises for mums (very gentle stuff that helps to go back to pre-pregnancy form) and songs and exercises for babies, it's really fun and it's a great place to meet other mums, and even if your baby's crying during the class is absolutely fine :)

clarewithoutani · 22/10/2010 19:19

Thanks Kasia. I will def look into it.
Tried out the aqua natal class in Arches, Greenwich last night. Only six people in the class and a pretty good class although the changing rooms are pretty rank. I'm definitely going to go again next week.

LLCoolK29 · 23/10/2010 17:34

Hi All,
Clarewithoutani, I've been twice now to the Colfe's Aqua aerobics. I went hoping and expecting to meet other mums-to-be, but it turns out it's 90% for the over-60's! So I'm the only one. That being said, everyone's very friendly, it's quite relaxing and fun - I'll contine to go.

Thanks for the info on the NCT classes, I gave into temptation and signed up to the Blackheath ones after much deliberation.

Yoga classes sound good though!

AngelNCT · 04/11/2010 11:18

Hello all,

My name is Angel and I've recently taken on the role of Area Rep for the NCT Lee, Hither Green and Blackheath Borders.

I'm hosting open house gatherings for local parents to get together and meet each other, they are open to all, including non-members, from any area.

You can see details of up and coming open house events on our local NCT page here: www.nct.org.uk/in-your-area/lewisham/connect-with-others/lee

If you would like to come along please let me know by email: [email protected]

I'm new to Mumsnet but hope to start getting to grips with it now!

clarewithoutani · 06/11/2010 18:05

The Arches one is an aqua natal class and so far there are four/five of us who attend regularly.

It is actually really tough to meet other mums-to-be and I seem to be the only one of my friends to be pregnant at the moment so it does feel a little isolating at times not to have other people to meet who are in the same boat.

I had to reschedule my midwife appt so am seeing her this Monday and hope I'll still be able to get to the Lewisham Hospital classes.

Angel - thanks for posting. I'll definitely take a look. x
