Hi I'm new to mumsnet. Am 21 weeks currently and looking for local chat and friendship. This is my first baby at 36 so a long time coming.
Are there any local groups or meetings out there for a mum to be to go to and meet up with with other mum to be's.
Will be good to hear from someone x

hello, first of congratulations, i hope the sickness phase has passed now.
I am not too sure what groups you mean? On the computer or any in general?
I no that most areas of where you live have some sort of mothers group, my local area have a lot.
From when the baby is new born up until they go to school.
But i found this website not too long a go and it is helpfull sometimes but can get a little nasty on here too. But feel free to ask any questions you have, you are sure to get some honest answers on here

The NCT is probably your best bet, they have bump and baby tea groups all over Southampton. You can join their Southampton Yahoo group without being an NCT member.

Or the Surestart centers? I got loads of bumf from them about their various groups although I didn't actually go to any.

Often people recommended netmums for their local meet-a-mum page but I had a look at the Southampton page and thought that generally the mums on there were a great deal younger than me with older children (and the tickers made my eyes bleed.)

Yay join the NCT! On Sat 25th Sep the Soton branch are having a Brunch coffee morning at St Denys Community Ctr 10-12. It's free entry, there'll be proper coffee and bacon butties on sale and you can chill out, chat and watch the babies and toddlers potter. Dads and dads-to-be esp welcome.

Also the NCT antenatal classes are great ways to make new friends due at similar times but they book up fast.

Hi, Im new to Mumsnet as well, this is my first message! I just wanted to say that I live in Southampton and im 36 wks with baby number two. With my first I went to the surestart groups, they were very good and if you live any where near west end, there is a very good music group in the hall by In-exess(Sorry cant remember the name of it, baby brain) but that was really good and every one was friendly. Also Bitterne libary do a sing along group on a Wednesday morning at 11am i think. BUt if you go along to a surestart group they have lots of leaflets with things to do etc. Good luck! If it makes you feel any better, im nervous about having to do these things again with a very hectic two year old and a baby!
