I've been looking online to try and find if its been finished but no luck. Want to take DS there but don't fancy turning up to a building site!

Don't know, but St George park is great!

PussinJimmyChoos · 28/03/2010 12:00

Riv - may do just that , not that you'll have any time for park chat these days what with having D.C in your house

oops I live just around the corner from the park and have no idea.... and no time to go check it out for you (off to drama festival with dd - again)... Sorry! Nice day to go and have a look though.

[cheeky]
riven, my dd is starting at BCCS in sept on a music place, I saw that your children go there when I did a search on the school, I'd be interested in some insider info if you don't mind? [cheeky]

Update: Just spoke to DP (out on dog walk) and no, not finished yet. But very close.

PussinJimmyChoos · 28/03/2010 12:13

So annoying! We went there for a walk just before New Year, when the path was covered in ice, telling the girls the whole way there would be a park for them to play at the end - and then discovered a building site instead!

Does anyoe know if St Andrews one is finished? Or Grevile Smyth (SP?)? Or the one near fishponds RD?

FrogPrincess · 28/03/2010 17:45

Thanks Riven. I haven't thought about the meet ups as I haven't been on MN much in the past couple of years....

navyeyelash - according to my parents there are no building works in Greville Smyth park (usually called Ashton Park).

whimsicalname · 29/03/2010 11:55

St Andrews still being done I'm afraid

If you're after another sandy park, there's one at the top of Eastville Park. It's not up to Vassals, but ok. Take coffee in a flask though!

Scrudd · 29/03/2010 12:09

St Andrews looks a bit closer to completion. I had a nosey when I drove past the other day and there appeared to be some kind of complicated looking wooden climbing frame thing, after months of men standing around looking bored and not doing very much, from what I could see.

navyeyelasH · 29/03/2010 16:20

oohh good news about Greville Smyth Park, boo about St A's though I love that park!

Where is Eastville Park and Vassals?

Have you noticed there is also a new park on Winterstoke RD, neat that strip of shops, wickes, staples, pc works etc by the football ground.

So much nicer than the concrete thing they had before!

belgo · 29/03/2010 16:51

navy - yes they have done up the Marsh on Winterstoke road but when we went there at Christmas it was very muddy still and the design isn't that great - the benches are situated quite far from the swings etc meaning that it's a bit difficult to see the children. At least that huge grassy area is being reclaimed from the dogs who just used to shit everywhere.

belgo · 29/03/2010 16:56

It is admittadly a lot better the the previous concrete patch with the same arch climbing frame that had been there for 30 plus years.

PussinJimmyChoos · 29/03/2010 20:43

It is quite sad but I am excited about Vasalls park being done and having a cafe there!

Navy - Eastville Park is just to the East (left if you're heading into town) of the M32 by junction 2. It's a lovely great big space, with a rather sad boating lake and links to the Frome path, which is also being done up. the play area is at the top end off Fishponds Road.

Vassalls is the Oldbury Court Estate. You can walk btwn one and the other on the Frome Path. It's a great running route too. (except I'm 32 weeks with SPD, and can barely walk to the end of the road, so I'm not running anywhere)
