Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this is the closest Local forum but we (me, DH, DD 9 and DS5) are thinking of moving to Elstree/Borehamwood area. I'm still in early phase of investigation--am wondering if anyone can enlighten me on the followings:
Childcare: Both hubby and i work in central London so will have to leave the house by 7:30. Is it easy to find either a live-in au pair or a part-time commuting nanny (our preference) who can come early enough, say 7am? Are there many full time working mums?
Schools: state primary school don't look that impressive, or a mixed bag. A couple of people I spoke to send their children to Edgware. Is it common or how far do people send their children to? How bad is the school run?
Hospitals: any pros/cons about Edgware vs Barnet vs Watford General? Maternity ward info is not relevant, but more interested in children's specialists (hard to get appts?) and children's A&E.
Oh, and can we manage with just one car?
