i think the HMIe website gives a list of registered childminders and reports. I'd go for a childminder for a baby this young.

i did not have much luck with the HMIe website or the scottish gov website. i can only find regulations, but not a comprehensive list of registered childminders. any other suggestions how to find a good childminder/ nursery in the west end?
thanks!

hi there i dont know if his would help you but i know a really good childminder. she lives in the west end and has looked after my friends two children from six weeks old up until they started school. she also looks after my 3 month old on a regular basis and has done since he was about 3 weeks old. she is very reliable. if you want her contact details then you can email me on [email protected].

ds goes to Parkgrove and has done since he was llmonths. He loves it and the staff are very nice.

I particularly liked the baby rooms staff - Alannah is lovely. The babies spend a lot of time being taken for walks in the park when it's dry and there are plently of cuddles available.

Personally though, I think a childminder would be better for such a tiny baby if you can manage it.

my dd goes to parkgrove too and loves it.

She's been there for 2 years now and the staff are great. The nursery is maybe a bit tired round the edges but all the girls have done a great job of looking after Orla who is very shy and they all make time for her.

Alannah was her favourite in the baby room - would def recommend them.

My 2 went to somerset nursery. They had a great experience staff were great There are 2 or 3 other nurseries all in west end/city centre and my friend has her children in the kindergaten at clairmont gardens she speaks very highly of them children have enjoyed great experiences and are very confident and ready for school.
Definately recommend.
re childminders I worry that they are on their own with a number of children whereas the nursery always has at least 2 staff with them also if the childminder goes to the loo who is watching the children?????
and when she is preparing lunch and snacks who is watching the children who are all different ages??

Hello,

Could anyone recommend a good childminder in the West End of Glasgow. I am looking for care three days a week for my daughter in Feb/Mar 2011, when she will be 8-9months.

Kindest regards
