Hi

Was wondering if any one else would like to get together one day and have a chat?

The more the merrier, everyone is always saying what is there for children to do, personally i hate going to soft play, swimming etc on my own. Think it may be an idea?

any one else with a suggestion?

x

geordieminx · 04/08/2009 21:21

Oooo its lovely all these fol coming out of the woodwork!

Wiggletastic · 04/08/2009 21:34

Hello Kaza

sadie41 · 05/08/2009 13:31

Thats realy nice, thanks for the welcome. I'm really starting to feel like a beached whale so I'll be lovely to meet some folk who came out the other side

However my friend very kindly just reminded me the baby probably only weights about a bag of sugar....

Hope to meet you all and your wee ones soon!

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 13:35

Its great isn't it.

Does anyone fancy doing something next week sometime, before the schools go back (for those of us with school aged children!)

Ideas? - Burrell Collection/Pollok Park (nice playpark, coffee stall outside or Burrell Coffee Shop inside - free!) or Kelvingrove again is always good for those of us with bigger kids as well as the tinies!

Or can anyone suggest anything else? Any day but Tuesday suits me.

midnightexpress · 05/08/2009 13:40

Oh I might be able to come next week for once. Work's a bit slack at the moment, so might have a bit of free time. MWF mornings no good but could do other days.

Pollok Park good for us, but have car, so can travel.

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 13:43

Have to admit I am only suggesting Pollok as we live on the southside and can come on our bikes!

Afternoons good for us - better probably as that is when I am ready to strangle them engage in positive socialble behaviour!

Kaza1 · 05/08/2009 22:25

Thanks for the welcome. Pollok Park would be good for me too as we can walk (if we have enough time). Anyday but Thursday suits me and afternoon would be good too. I'm with you Weggie I'm usually ready to pull my hair out engage in positive social behaviour (sorry couldn't think of my own words too late!)

Kaza1 · 05/08/2009 22:26

I'm soooo not getting the hang of strike out sorry I'm a bit dizzy

Kaza1 · 05/08/2009 22:28

Think it's time for bed!!!! I'm not going to even try again

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 22:29

Kaza you need to strike out every word:

(I know the sign is --, but if it was -, you would -strike- -out- so when you do it with the proper symbol you get strike out. HTH)

Nyx · 05/08/2009 22:44

Hello everybody! It sounds like you had a lovely meet-up. I'm sorry I missed it. My sister's getting married a week on Saturday and we've been trying to get things sorted for it quickly!

I will keep an eye on this and see if I can make it to the next one. I am sure DD would love to run around mad play nicely with any other children who may attend, and she loves babies. Pollok Park good for me too as it's close to a train station!

I hope the weather stays nice

Nyx · 05/08/2009 22:49

And by the way - thanks for the tutorial on strikeouts weegiemum, I've never used them before and now I know how

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 22:55

I spend too much time on MN!

Sounds like next week in Pollok Park might be a good one then?

Nyx · 05/08/2009 23:04

I could do Monday afternoon - midnightexpress, would that suit you, is it just those mornings you can't do? I can't do any other day next week. However I promise I won't sulk if I can't make it - I'm going up to the Western Isles after my sister's wedding and am looking forward to that very much!

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 23:09

OOOh Nyx we used to live in the Western Isles and were there a few weeks back! Hope you have a good time.

Monday afternoon works for us!

Nyx · 05/08/2009 23:13

I used to live in Lewis and my Mum still lives there (Uig) - whereabouts were you? We'll have a lovely time - am stocking up on the Avon Skin-So-Soft to repel the midgies though!

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 23:23

We used to live in North Harris, beside Loch Seaforth. When we were up in July we spent 2 fabby days on Riof beach, sandcastling and kayaking and swimming! Hope you get the weather too.

we moved away 3 years ago though we still have our house in Harris. Its a nice place but I was pretty isolated when we lived there.

Your Mum, if she is still in Uig, must have known Dr Hay. His daughter and son-in-law were partners in the Tarbert Medical Practice with my dh! Dh has actually done a 2 week locum in Uig a couple of years back!

Someone on another thread mentioned they had kids at the Gaelic School in Glasgow - was that you?

Nyx · 05/08/2009 23:53

Weegiemum - LOL @ 'your mum must have known Dr Hay'...I know Dr Hay, he's wonderful His wife was my schoolteacher and was the best teacher in the world (imo, of course). Small world, isn't it! Wonder if I've met your DH then - I've seen a couple of locums in the last few years when I've been up at home.

No, it wasn't me with children in the gaelic school, although I have havered about finding out about it for a while because it sounds good. My biggest problem is [shame] I don't speak gaelic myself. My Mum never taught me and I never picked it up.

giraffesCanRunA10k · 06/08/2009 05:58

Hope to see you all soon Perhaps towards end of next week. Am now swine flu free and after todays op will hopefully have a better arm, but will definetly be up for some medicinal cake meetings

Big thanks to wiggletastic for my card

weegiemum · 06/08/2009 06:56

Lol Nyx, of course you would know him too! And his wife was a wonderful lady!

I speak no Gaelic at all and most (I think they said 70% last year) parents don't. My dh doesn't either. But 2 of my kids are now fluent and the 3rd is getting there. I'll chat to you about it at the meetup if you like!

Girrafes - all the best today - hope the op goes well!!

giraffesCanRunA10k · 06/08/2009 06:59

Nyx I'm sure its you who lives very near me!

Thanks weegie
