Does anyone know of anywhere city centre-ish that can be hired for a private function early on a sunday that allows kids in? And any catering companies?

What about The Lighthouse? The kids (and everyone else) would also get entry into the exhibitions/rest of the building which might keep them amused, and they have onsite catering. They might do you a deal/discount if you ask nicely!

AitchTwoOh · 18/02/2009 21:30

i thought the lighthouse was closed now?

no problem with caterers, you could get someone like delizique to do it. delicious, although pricey. in fact i'd phone some caterers and ask them if they know of anywhere... they're going to be in and out of venues, presumably.

oh, and try st andrews on the square.

Mummyfor3 · 18/02/2009 21:33

Brilliant caterer: Eusebi Deli in Shettleston Road.
Very good Italian inspired homemade food at incredibly reasonable prices.

Venue, sorry, I am no help at all...

smallorange · 18/02/2009 21:37

Heart Buchanan do outside catering. What about The Tall Ship?

Hi Aitch, I too was going to suggest the tall ship, that would be an excellent venue.

My bil & sil do fabulous buffets. I'll get a note of their website address for you and put it here tomorrow. They also do balloons etc too and are very very reasonably priced.

MumHadEnough · 18/02/2009 21:47

Oh just saw the message re your dd and the tall ship, maybe not then! What happened to her?

Is it for a christening?

smallorange · 18/02/2009 21:50

Oran Mor?

AitchTwoOh · 18/02/2009 21:51

oh, the tall ship would've been perfect as well, the food is really nice there.

the lighthouse are screwed for cash, as i said i heard they were shut. if you're paying, maybe they'll open?

whinegums · 19/02/2009 09:33

Lighthouse is still open (for the moment) and they are screwed for cash, so might be willing to do a deal and open a bit earlier.

Funny about your DD's trip to the Tall Ship - especially the teacher!

seriously.... do NOT pay a big deposit to the lighthouse.

MumHadEnough · 19/02/2009 11:23

Hi Aimsmum,

I spoke to BIL, their website is here. The website isn't fully finished yet but there are some pictures on there and their contact details.

If you want to give them a phone she can forward you over some flyers/prices etc by email.

I can recommend them, they're very good at what they do.

HTH

Hi Aimsmum,

Yeah if you like, just tell them Catherine told you to contact them.

Good luck, hope you find somewhere.

whinegums · 20/02/2009 11:20

Aimsmum, the lighthouse has been funded for the next financial year, so it might go belly up eventually but not yet. (I know someone who works there).

oh well, if they have a guarantee for the next year then fair enough. sorry to worry you unduly, aimsmum.
