We are a family currently living in Devon but my parents are moving back (we lived there when I was young) to Totton, Southampton. We would also like to move there but are privately renting and would need to find a property (3, pref 4 bedrooms) where the landlord would accept dss til my husband or I find a job, housing benefit top up when we do! We will have the deposit, rent in advance, references etc and are an honest family who take care of any property we live in. Can anyone help? Maybe w experience of an agent that deals with dss? Thankyou!

Sorry, can't help you with Totton; but maybe try further down the A326 - we found it easier to find somewhere to live (10 years ago now) around Hythe and Holbury. Don't go as far as Calshot though - the bus service is rubbish!!
Good luck!

Can you get relatives to send you the local paper (New Forest Post)? It usually has rentals at the back as well as the million pounds pads at the front!
The agency we used is long gone; but we got friendly advice from Bushnell Porter estate agents in Hythe - might be worth ringing them and asking for advice?
Property tends to be cheaper (umm....well) the further out of Southampton you go down the A326.
I remember standing in Totton and crying cos the only place we could find was almost under the bypass and the gutters were hanging off - a lovely young lass in a Totton agent's told us to try further away, and although the house is tiny (compared with 'up North') it has been just right for us.
Good luck! See you on here when you are local!

Try a company called Northwoods on Bellevue Terrace- i think they accept DSS. If not, just give a few local agents a call as sometimes they have landlords that will accept Good luck
