I go to a fantastic little group at Stonecroft Children's Centre (Priory Road, nr Alexandra Palace) for babies who can sit but not yet crawl. For some criminal reason it is not very well known and I was the only person at the group last week! So I wanted to advertise it a bit as it is a shame if any parent is stuck at home with their baby when they could be enjoying this group. It is unlike other baby groups in that it is small (max six babies), and the babies sit on the floor exploring loads of fascinating objects (brushes, wooden rings, shiny silver bowls etc.) in their own time. DD loves it. I like it too as there is no enforced singing, no payment and no rampaging toddlers. So it is good if money is tight or if you are feeling a bit isolated. If you live near Stonecroft Children's Centre and your baby is the right age (sitting but not mobile), then you can call to register 020 83407050 and come along on Thursday from 11am-12 noon. Although it is free you need to book not just turn up.
