Transport to Hospital for birth

Hello,
I'm giving birth at St Thomas' in September and just wondered if anyone's used taxis/minicabs to take you to hospital in labour. For various reasons, we don't want to take the car in and don't really have anyone local to drive us.

Many thanks for any suggestions!

Hallo

We used a taxi to take us to Lewisham hospital as my DH doesn't drive. It was fine - I took a couple of 'maternity mats' to sit on, in case my waters broke.

Didn't tell them I was in labour, just rang and asked for a cab to the hospital straight away and they were with us in 15 minutes.

Good luck with the birth.
