Princes Square is good for shopping and eating. Fifi and Ally - good for lunch - organic/healthy but plenty of scones or meringues to satisfy the unhealthy part of you! The meringues are about 10 inches in diameter!

You can also get a champagne and sandwiches and cake high tea - but a wee bit £££ £20 a head (I think). But we saw some girls having it the last time we were there and it looked v. indulgent!

Taxi up to Theatre Royal about a fiver.

thanks TracyK.

tbh - I'd ditch the theatre and just do shopping/drinks/dinner/drinks. Sleep/breakfast/shopping/lunch.

disagree - food is yummy at fifi and allys.

Alibobster · 17/07/2008 21:24

totally agree with ssd -Fifi and Ally's is pretentious, expensive and sh*t. The Blue Dog is West George Street is a really nice cocktail bar - try the lemon bon bon. One Up on Royal Exchange Square is another really nice place for a drink

West End is the best. Ashton LAne hasloadsof good bars and places to eat. Brel has a great atmosphere and has good jazz and DJs...Also stravaigan across the road is great for food. Oran Mor is a converted church at the end of Byres Road and has bar/rest/night club...

Alibobster · 23/07/2008 22:57

Flier, how was your trip?

Flier · 29/07/2008 10:15

Some good bars in the city centre
one up Royal Exchange Square fab cocktails or Metropolitan, Merchants Square, also does cocktails & has a champagne bar by the glass, the bottle or the Magnum.

Also try the Horseshoe Bar a Glasgow institution, very busy & friendly.

Fifi & Ali do good food but the sevice can be really slow if they are busy & if you want to go in the evening their West |Campbell St branch may be a better bet.

No one has mentioned the Cafe Gondalfi in Albion St they also have a bar & a fish place. It has been going for almost 30 years& is relaxed, atmospheric & the perfect place for long girly lunches.

If you are feeling flush 2 fantastis restaurants are Rogano Royal Exchange Square or the Ubiquitous Chip aka The Chip in the West end, these places have been on the go for years & you would have to book, They are very popular.

finally for Italians, there are loads in the city I would also recommend Sartis

THANKS for that 3blindmice
