Suggestions for a nice, quiet neighbourhood

Hi Colchester moms-

Dh, ds (17 months) and I are completely fed-up with where we are living and are looking to move within the next 6 weeks.

As to not hurt anyone's feelings, let's just say I live in the yuckiest part of Colchester with the worst reputation.

Yesterday my neighbour told be I was "ignit" (ignorant I think she meant) for leaving the garden gate open because the Gypsies will come and nick her garden gnomes.

We would prefer somewhere in the Highwoods area of Colchester, as my husband is at the University of Essex and we share 1 car.It doesn't neccesarily have to be Highwoods, but does anyone suggest any nice, quiet neighbourhoods where rent on a 2 bedroom would be around 600 pcm?

Thanks!

No, it's 52 Albert st. I drove by it yestrday. It looks quite small but the location is great! Hopefully we'll like it!

Which end of Albert street is it? Does it have a curved window on the front?

I think it may be my cousins old house, if it is it's really nice and owned by his PIL.

I just can't remember the exact number lol.

I can't remember if it has a curved window! It's the very end house nearest the wine store. We looked at number 12 Albert St yesteday, much bigger than 52 and with a big garden. We are applying for number 12 tomorrow. Parking looks as if it may be a bit tricky at times, but it's a fab house and a great location! We've already helped the landlords of our current flat find tenants, so now we just have to get out of here! I can't wait to be in a house!

We filled out an application with Boyden's, but I'm nervous because DH has ahorrible credit rating. Really horrible. Mine is pretty good, we have great references and we earn enough to qualify to rent, but I am worried about his credit rating. Do any of you have bad credit and have still been successful with a letting agency?

hi lotuseener - I walk past this road on my way to the park with dd - is great location and super quick into town - local preschool/school is just over teh road too!

Dp has virtually no credit rating. He can ony get a cash card for his bank account! We had no problems being accepted with boydens.

I have my fingers crossed for you
