Recommendations for nice villages and areas around Nottingham for families

Moving to Nottingham for LO's education. Could anyone please advice on nice villages/areas around Nottingham. We don't want to live right in the city. TIA

The 4 W’s are lovely
widmerpool
wysall
willoughby and Wymeswold
2 have primary schools and good transport links

They are all around 13 miles from Nottingham. Nearer to Loughborough.

8 miles for wysall . On school
bus routes too

My friend lives in Arnold and the area just north of her, just outside Nottingham itself, is nice.
