I am new Mumsnet and new to Sevenoaks - Moving to central Sevenoaks next year.
I wondered if anyone had any more information about the new Town Centre (re)development?
The information from the Council is pretty sparse. I have read all of the articles but cannot find anywhere any information about:
- What the new leisure centre will actually include - I assume pool at least?
- What 'residential led mixed-use' means?
- Whether it will just be 'new homes' or whether the ground floor / street will have new retail / services etc?
- What 'measures' might be used to control traffic?
- How the connection to Knoll Park will work/look?
- Whether there is any chance Kent Council participate later so that the Library can be updated?
- I assume no new school, GP/medical centre, playground, hotel, as none of these seem to be mentioned (anymore).
What I am trying to gauge is whether the development is just going to add to population density (and competition for services / schools etc) or whether that will be balanced with some improvements for the existing number of residents.
I appreciate that the council are just going through the tender process now but presumably the tender includes all sorts of requirements and I assume that those requirements are not a secret given that this is a government contact so why no details?
I am hoping that with such a big project there are lots of people who are working on it or who have heard things who are better informed than me. The lack of information from the Council is rather frustrating!
