Leigh on Sea - good place for families?

Hi All.

First time poster here but looking for some help/advice.

Currently looking at areas to move to as our ‘forever home’ with my husband and 2 year old son. We visited Leigh-on-Sea yesterday and really loved it…. Had a good wander around different streets, got general good vibes…. But I can’t quite shake off some of the things I’ve read about crime rates and it being unsafe.

I grew up in Glasgow and have lived in/around London for the last 15 years so I get that everywhere has issues and am pretty street wise, but I guess since becoming a mum I’ve just become a bit more paranoid and anxious about safety.

So I just wondered if there were any mums on here from the area that could give some insight or advice.

Thanks! x

Excellent for families. Good schools, as long as your DC are bright. Seaside and woods. Lots going on, community minded. Easy, quick, cheap access to London
Crime rate is really, really low isn’t it? I have never felt unsafe in LoS or heard of much trouble at all. I wouldn’t choose to go to Southend High Street at night, that doesn’t feel particularly safe, but I don’t need to.

Thanks so much for your post @Chewbecca - really reassuring. Think I might be overthinking it all a bit, just feels like there's a bit more pressure to pick the right place when you have a little one! x
