Hello everyone!

I have been wanting to get a bit more cultural for ages now. Having children seems to mean that doing lovely things like reading books and watching interesting films get left by the wayside.

I really wanted to join a bookclub when i moved over this way. The nearest one to me is in Great Horkesley but i am a little scared of it because they seem to have a lot of Anne Widdecombe on the list!!! (She may be great - i don't know - but it did scare me a bit!!). Anyway, you all know the saga, you choose a book, read it, meet up in a month or so time and talk about and drink a glass of wine...

The other thing that i would love to do - but is a bit less done, is to find people to go to the cinema with (a film club??!!). My partner is not keen on going to the cinema and besides it leads to lots of baby sitting issues. Thought it would be a really good idea to have a bunch of girls or guys (but why not mums??) who would like to see decent films (democratic decision!) approximately once every three or four weeks?

Meet up, watch film, have a chat, maybe a drink before or after...

Anyone up for it? or is just me...

Hello! Have been told tonight that DH is being taken out for a meal on wednesday by his work...ggrrrrr. That means i might not be able to go. Will see if my regular babysitter is available - if not, then i cant

Ill just check out the braintree listings....

Well, happy go lucky is on in braintree, but at 6.15pm which seems a bit early, although isuppose i could try to leave ds awake....

Forgetting sarah marshall is on at 8.20

What happens in vegas is on at 6.35 or 8.45

Im happy to see any really. Time wise they are all pretty crap, but either the vegas at 6.35 or the sarah marshall at 8.20 would be better. What do you two think eeny and lucyfer??

eenybeeny · 13/05/2008 00:05

Well pooter you really cant leave DS without putting him to bed can you? So I am happy to go to a later one. I will do whatever is most conveinent for you lot! Does that sound sad? hehe its just that I am fairly easy. I suppose I would prefer the later one if pushed so I could put DS to bed but its not a deal breaker.

ok, what about sarah marshall, braintree at 8.20. I dont mind driving us although i dont know where you live lucyfer, could pick you up eeny at about 8pm? Im sure that would give us enough time to get to braintree.

What do you think lucyfer? My email for address etc is archipooter at googlemail dot com.

woo hoo - i might be going out!! shock to the system...just hope my babysitter will be able to do it!

eenybeeny · 13/05/2008 09:25

that movie and time works for me! let us know about the babysitter!

lucyfer2000 · 13/05/2008 21:12

Would you believe it, my DP is working in London tomorrow and will not be home until about nine or ten. How very annoying . I too will have to try to get a baby sitter now. It's typical isn't it? almost defeats the object really...

I do really want to go though. Shall try and leave a post again later when i have a better idea of what is going on. Fingers crossed.

oh no!! I really want to go with you both! I hope you can go! Otherwise... Um... Thursday??????

lucyfer2000 · 13/05/2008 21:59

Hey, no worries my childminder is an angel and has promised to stay at the house until my dp gets back tomorrow night. Phew!

Pooter I hope your sitter comes good as well. I also don't mind driving over to Braintree, so either way I guess we'll leave from Colchester area at about 19.45 aiming to be in Coggeshall for 20:00. I live in Great Horksely and equally do not know where you live pooter.

I can't check the mumsnet site (or my yahoo account) tomorrow at work, so i shall email you from my work address and then you will have my work email to get back to me and see what we decide to do!

Looking forward to it!

Well, my dh has tomorrow off!! yipeeee. Thats miles better than getting my babysitter, and it means i can go out to play! Im in braiswick - so theoretically it would make sense for you to drive to north station, go down the bergholt road (turn left into fernlea etc etc)pick me up, then we coudl both go to coggy then on to braintree! I feel a bit cheeky though as i said i dont mind driving - we could always say i could drive us next time!

wow - looks like we're going out. not sure i remember what to do!

eenybeeny · 14/05/2008 08:42

hehe me either!!! I am really looking forward to it though! DH is really happy for me as well he might be even more excited than me!
