Out of London to Stonehouse

Searching for our home with good private schools nearby and have zeroed in on Stonehouse with Wycliffe. DS is 7 and would be going into year 3. He’s bright and very confident young boy I feel would enjoy and take advantage of facilities. While not made of money we can afford paying for fees by moving to Stonehouse and not paying rent in London. Don’t have to commute to work as international role no office presence required.

would love to hear your comments re the school and Stonehouse in general. I’ve researched on here and seems ok-ish.

house budget is £300k so we can spend more on kids. Can afford to spend more On house but don’t want to. We were considering Cardiff before but sadly the schools we liked do not have any space in 2024.

ideally looking at Stonehouse for now, but if you have other suggestions please offer.

Im afraid I couldn’t recommend Wycliffe. Our son had a few trial days there and they declined him a place- citing he was “too confident “. He isn’t and the reason we were looking to move him was severe bullying at his state school which had made him feel suicidal. They basically blamed him for not offering a place. I later found out the real reason was another parent had called and threatened to remove her own child as having another boy in the class would ‘upset’ him!! This was a class of nine children!!
In addition, I have since met an ex teacher of the school who had significant concerns about the pastoral care there- they voted with their feet and left back to the state sector.
