sorry no gossip or insider info, but i think both are suppose to be pretty good. Only first hand experience is that i use to go to one of them. I hope to send my dd to one of them.

Thanks for that - very reassuring. The Ofsted reports aren't amazing but I never know how much they actually reflect what a school is like, if you know what i mean.

My two go to Calverley C of E. When I read the Ofsted report I wondered what school they had turned up at! I think it is a very good school. The current headmistress was very nice when my son had a few problems settling in. The school has an excellent and energetic PTA that raises funds for the kids (being in a "nice" area, the school does not get a lot of financial help from the authorities). They do some extra out of hours clubs (my d. did an hour's art and an hour's IT). There is also a club for children to go to from 8 am until school starts or from 3.30 for an hour, or two hours til 5.30 (£3 an hour per child), and they do a holiday playscheme too (I think full days are £20 for first child, £15 for next). This is important for working mums/dads. And the kids get plenty of homework so you can't say they aren't stretched. A good mix of ethnic backgrounds too and you don't have to attend the church to get in!
