Due to popular demand, I am starting a thread to ascertain numbers for a week away at Camber Sands in the School Holidays...16th seems to be a popular date. Sign up if you're interested and I'll get quotes off the various owners I know (one of them has a van which has ensuite bedrooms either end of the lounge so great if you want to share with another couple/family).

Obviously, I have a van so won't be signing!!!

it's getting closer now ladies. [excited]

I was at the gym on Saturday which is free to owners (and induction is free as well) so if anyone would like to take advantage of it, I can sort out an owners pass for you - will need a passport photo.

What is the general consencous regarding what we do that week (obviously depending on weather)? There is a Zoo to go to, some amusements to go to, a farm, a rare breeds centre (lovely!) or we could just stay close by and use the facilities/go to the beach. If you want to go out and about, let me know and I'll post links to the various activities.

For those that need to give me balances, can I ask that you let me have a cheque for week commencing 28th July, as I might not be around after that (at the caravan - depending on the weather). Thanks!

Thanks for the link MrsR, that was kind. I am going to book that one as it sees lovely and a good size for the money.

Any idea if it is near your pitches?

hey MrsR, our van @ Camber will seem like a palace after a week in the campervan

will organise cheque for you as requested.

what's the story with getting passes for the clubhouse/facilities etc? will i be able to buy one when we arrive?

as for what we should do, if the weather's good i'm more than happy to hit the beach but it would be nice to do some exploring around the area too.

altho I know you're our local knowledge, please don't feel like you have to be our tour guide or anything otherwise it won't be a very relaxing time for you.

MDS - I'm not sure where it is. But Kewcumber & I are close together and Foxie/Paddle are close together so I will see if I can get one close to either of us for you.

Paddle - if you want to mail me a photo, I will get a pass sorted for you - dd won't need one. I'll sort out some links for the local area so you can start getting excited.

yes there are 4 swimming pools and a flume. They are all child friendly (baby pool; toddler pool and bigger pool) so not very deep. They also have aqua baby/tots lessons (free) on a Weds/Thurs morning. And a float/survival session for the older kids. So lots going on.

tbh Foxie, that's what I normally do as ds likes to sleep from 1-4pm - so I can chill and sunbath/cook whilst he's sleeping. But if we do head off out somewhere, he will fit in with us as well.

The beach will be nice as well (hopefully the weather will be okay).

Don't forget ds' Birthday Party - it's on the Friday 22nd - am planning a BBQ (or if its raining inside our van) so everyone invited.

There are a few places - Port Lympe is wonderful (although very tiring as lots of walking - you can use your Tesco clubcard points (but have to send off before hand). About a 30 minute drive from Camber.

Dymchurch is a bit closer and is has an old fashioned amusement park (cheap and good for the young ones) it has a small water ride, ghost train, aeroplanes. Not at all expensive and run by some lovely retired people (who remember us each time we go back). I have some photos of the rides, I'll try and put these on FB. Plus, right by the beach and the Donkey rides and, if it rains, next door to a soft play area where we can sit and have a coffee whilst LOs run off steam.

There is also Rye which is even closer (10 minutes in car). It has a market on Thursdays, lots of Antique shops, some lovely restaurants and lots of cobbled streets and some pubs where LOs are welcome.

Finally, there is always Hastings which is easy to get to by Train/Car from Rye. It has a cinema/shopping centre/aquarian/crazy golf (brill fun!)/soft play area/bigger amusement park (and more expensive).

Plus there are some farms - I particularly like the Rare Breeds Centre near Ashford - if you remember the Tamworth Two (Pigs) then you can see them here.

Gosh - lots of reading for you ladies - do I get the record for the most amount of links in a post

oooh dd is dying to have a pony ride. am sure a donkey will be just as acceptable!

have emailed you a pic MrsR, thanks so much for sorting out.

am hoping to do some intensive work on dd's toilet training that week. DM had a very trying day at Kew yesterday with 4 changes of knickers lol.

tbh, she's braver than me and poor old thing struggled with the porta-potti getting it up in time!

anyways, guess i'm saying we'll just be pottering about and hoping weather is kind to bare bottoms!

got it - thanks pc. We(I!) will probably be trying the same with ds as well. He holds his wee already and waits until he is in the shower (typical man!). Ideal time to do it, in the summer when you can mop up accidents.

my dd2 never liked the porta one she'd always go flying so it wasn't kind to her bottom.

Ohhh am getting v excited about the four pools!!!

I think Ds1 would love to do the survival class!!

I'd like to say that I will take DS2 to the tots class but actually I'd rather go for a swim sans kids if I ever get the chance!!!

MrsR do you know the quietest times to sneak for for a swim?

At Devon we swam at 10am (me, DS and DD, while DH and S2 chilled out)

Dymchurch sounds very nice

They do have adult only swim times so you should have plenty of opportunity Foxie. At 9.30am and 1.30pm, they have a under 5s play session in the Boathouse (for half an hour). That is good fun as well.
