Shrewsbury Castle will be closed, other things to see/do during my visit?

I'm planning a day trip to Shrewsbury in early Feb and have just been disappointed to read that the castle will be closed until half term.
Can anybody please suggest/recommend any other interesting things to see/do/visit in the town centre area? I'll be arriving by train, so need to keep quite central and within walking distance to the station.

Look on trip advisor: the quarry, Shrewsbury prison and Shrewsbury museum are all within the loop of the river or close by. The abbey and theatre are just outside the loop. Otherwise there are loads of shops

Should have said, anything within the loop of the river is in walking distance of the station
