The reality of life is Bishop Aukland?

I'm looking to relocate from Bradford, I am literally looking anywhere in the uk but my housing requirements are very specific for numerous reason meaning suitable housing with my smallish budget are few and far between.
A belter of a house has come up in Bishop but I really want a true picture of the area. I am currently on a new estate in the middle of rough council estate where the crime has got worse and worse. There are regular fights, police raids, unlicensed motorbikes doing wheelies up and down the road, the attitude of the kids intimidates me as an adult and I won't let my kids play out, and the litter and fly tipping is dreadful hence the desire to relocate. But I am scared of jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
Can anyone help with honest reviews of the area. I am realistic for he budget that I have I am not going to end up somewhere fantastic but I can't afford to do all this and it be as bad!
I don't know the areas of bishop but the house I am looking at is near the A688/A689 roundabout not far from Cockton Hill junior school.

Depends where it is. There’s some lovely houses in Bish, there’s lots of rough bits.
Upside, good transport links, regular buses to Durham, Newcastle.train links. There’s a bit of regeneration around the Palace, but go round the corner and the high street is a dump. Cant comment on schools, but two big secondaries. Nice country around. Does it have to be bish, can you go further afield?

Just looked, which side of the road is it on? Near the river? (Look at flooding)
Its quite close to the dual carriageway to the north. But as far as rough bits go, it’s not so bad.

I'm not bothered about the schools as my eldest is in a special school so that won't be local and younger 2 are home educated, so it is really about the local area. Hadn't checked flooding but will do....
