Looking to buy a house in Teddington or Raynes Park

Hi there

I’m new to mumsnet so please bear with me…

My husband and I recently got married and looking to upgrade a house. We currently live in Orpington but decided we would like to live in SW to be close to Dh’s family. His parents live in Barnes where we can’t afford the house prices. We saw a 3br house in Fulwell Rd in Teddington and also one in Carlton Park Ave in Raynes Park. The one in RP is less pricey, has much more living space and a better commute to London. The one in Fulwell rd sits right at the very top of our budget (950k) and less space although I know Teddington is really quite expensive.

Which one would you recommend? Are those streets mentioned nice? I’ve read somewhere that parking in Fulwell could be a nightmare because of the nursery and proximity to the train station however one of the residents told us that parking permit has recently been introduced which should help with this. Bushy park is absolutely beautiful but assume there would be a nice local park in RP?

We’re a young-ish recently married couple and trying for our first baby! So schools isnt yet a requirement for us. We’ll probably look to move again in 3-5 years. We’re mainly after a nice, safe location with friendly people that’s also well connected to London. And DH likes to go back to cycling.

Thanks in advance :)

Teddington is nice. A lot of baby playgroups and activities, proximity to parks, river, Richmond and Hamptons Court with one of the nicest playgrounds (you need to have annual ticket though). You don't even need to drive, bus 33 can bring you to Twickenham or Richmond.
