Whereabout in Durham are you moving to ie centre of Durham or one of the surrounding villages? The North East as a whole isn't the greatest for multiculture however around the bigger towns such as Newcastle/Stockton there is greater diversity. Some of the surrounding villages are definitely monoculture as they are ex-mining villages/farming communities.
What the area lacks in multuculture though it makes up by having (for the most part) very open and friendly inhabitants. I'm sorry I don't know about Halal butchers but a quick Google showed a few around Durham.
Welcome to the North East 😊

Newton Hall or Newton Aycliffe? Two very different experiences I would imagine!

OK so Newton Aycliffe isn't massively diverse/multi cultural but might be worth joining one of the Aycliffe community groups on Facebook to get a better feel for the town.
