It is my first post on Mumsnet and I have been going through some of the existing threads about Tarporley and the surrounding areas, but I wanted to post something more recent incase others were thinking of going that way, or have recently gone that way or have similar situtations and questions, etc.
My Husband and I grew up in Whitchurch, Shropshire and left in 2013 to move to the US. We moved back to the UK in 2018 and settled in Yorkshire for my Husband's job. However, we aren't settling here and everytime we visit my parents in Whitchurch we feel so cosy and comforted by the surroundings of Shropshire and Cheshire, it feels like Home. We love Tarporley and are seriously thinking about relocating there. Our son is 6 and our daughter is 11 (Year 6), it is a big year for her. She has SATS coming up, the leaving party, the residential, all sorts of fun stuff and we have applied for High Schools, and National Offers Day is just two months away. My preference would be to wait til summer, but does anyone have any advice on what we might do about High School? Is Tarporley High oversubscribed? Can we apply for Year 7 nearer to summer? She also has a keen interest in Gymnastics and Acrobatics and is doing really well, are there any good clubs nearby? And my son, he is part of an FA run U7's football team and is currently doing FootTech Academy aswell. He is also about to join Beavers and wants to do golf and needs swimming lessons too.
I am very nervous, I am not feeling particularly brave about this potential move. I really miss the US and having not settled in Yorkshire, I am worried about it not working out for us and moving the kids lives. I am a social person, I love making new friends and our family getting together with other families, and my Husband would love some guy friends too. I feel like when your kids are older, it's a little tricky to form connections. How easy is it to meet people? Thank you for listening!!
