Best + well connected outside of the city?

Hi!
We're moving to Cambridgeshire next year.
We don't want to live in the city, but need a town/large village with good public transport into Cambridge.
We'd love to live somewhere pretty, as opposed to a plain sort of place.
Does this place exist? I know, huge ask!
Ideally needs a train station, but a good bus service would suffice!
Thanks! :-)

Ely may tick your boxes? That’s on the larger size but if you wanted a smaller village feel then on the south side you have Great Shelford or Whittlesford (Shelford is popular and can be more expensive). I’m sure there are more but those are the ones that spring to my mind first as pretty but well connected to Cambridge.

Those are the places I can think of with train stations. You could also look at St Ives which is on the guided busway.

Saffron Walden? Ticks the pretty box and has a station at Audley End. Strictly speaking it's Essex though...
