Hi everyone! My name is Matt and I’m the CEO of SociAbility (www.sociability.app). We’re an Oxford-based social enterprise empowering social inclusion through better access information.
We’re launching a mobile app this week that makes it quick and easy to find access information for social venues and shops. It’s a crowdsourced database of detailed access information (eg. steps, ramps, toilets etc) for shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and more!
We’ve been featured on the BBC (www.bit.ly/sociabilitybbc) and iTV (www.bit.ly/sociabilityitv) to date.
I wanted to start this conversation around access information because I think the access needs of parents are often overlooked! Whether you are pushing a buggy or caring for a child, particularly one with special needs, knowing the accessibility of venues in advance is super important! We want to help with that!
The new SociAbility app makes it easy to find detailed access information for social venues and shops.
SociAbility will be available from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store from tomorrow (11 June)! Simply download, explore and go.
Also, if you're in Oxford, please:
1) Join us tomorrow (Tuesday 11 June) at Rhodes House from 5.30-7pm for our launch event! (Details: <a class="break-all" href="//www.bit.ly/sociabilitylaunch)" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.bit.ly/sociabilitylaunch)</a>
2) And get involved with our Oxford Access Mapathon on Sunday 16 June @ 4pm (Details: <a class="break-all" href="//www.bit.ly/sociabilitysunday)" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.bit.ly/sociabilitysunday)</a>. The more the merrier!
Join us outside the Clarendon Building (Broad Street) @ 4pm as we sprawl around Oxford Oxford to map as many venues as we can!
That's it! We hope you like SociAbility. If so, please help us spread the word, follow us on social media (<strong>@sociabilityapp</strong>) and, together, lets make the world a more SociAble place for all!
