Do any of you guys live near Kelvedon -I am a normal person but feel totally frozen out by the school mums and am finding it hearder and harder to adjust to living in 'the country' all on my ownsome!!

Sorry for quick message by the way am at work and had boss walk out of office.

We moved a month ago and I am finding it increasingly hard to make friends - I really am at the end of my teather and am thinking about throwing a tantrum to get DH to consider moving back to old stomping ground - I love our new house, love the school and everuthing about the village am just finding it so hard not having any friends there.

There is one toddlers club attached to the church but had a bit of a rough time with a childminder there when first moved and she goes and feel as though I will be alienated if I go there.

Really don't know what to do now - just love coming to work so I don't have to think about how lonely I am there!!

Sorry, I am other side of Colchester. I know how you feel though, its quite hard sometimes with the school mums, especially when you move into a village and they are all chummy. I just try to smile loads and try not to get to fed up! Why dont you have a coffee morning and have a get together? Some of the mums have had Phoenix cards parties near to me, and although it sounded boring it was a good opportunity to chat to other mums when they werent busy sorting out kids.

daisycat01 · 16/07/2007 16:49

why dont you join a group in the next village along, or go to one in Colchester?

Twinkie1 · 16/07/2007 16:52

Thats a good idea - thank you, I will do that - our village is so small everyone already knows everyone else.

I feel really stupid - I am not shy and am normally very outgoing but going from being friends with everyone in the playground to friends with no one is so hard - I do try and smile and be chummy bu they all just stand there in their little groups whilst I chase DS round the playground!!

I often feel the same, it just the same as being a new girl. I have cried a few times when I have got home. I dont think anyone is actually meaning to be mean, I think everyone is preoccupied with the kids and stuff that they dont realise that it would be nice to make the new mum feel welcome.

Saz126 · 20/07/2007 21:49

Hi, I moved to Kelvedon almost three years ago and since have had little boy - now 10 months old. It's awful that people have not been friendly to you here. I have found people very friendly but have been in contact with other new mums and not mums of older children. There aren't many groups here are there? I was thinking of going along to the group attached to the church but wasn't sure if that was for mothers and toddlers only? Have you tried the group at Feering Community Centre?

Twinkie1 · 15/08/2007 09:44

Hi Saz - sorry haven't seen this on here for ages!

Am going to start going to Little Lambs on a Thursday morning at the churh if you want to come along - I live a few doors from it - maybe you could pop round for a coffee beforehand so we can go in together and not look so sad! (well me not look sad anyway!)

What days are the groups in Feering - I work Monday - Wednesday so it sort of cuts down my options!

How old is your little boy - I have a little boy of 2.8 and a little girl of 7. DS goes to Brimpton house and DD goes to St Mary's!

Hi Twinkie! Sorry only just seen your reply. I have been to Little Lambs a couple of times since my message and DS really enjoyed it. He is a year old next month, can't believe how quickly the year has gone. I am due to go back to work in London in two weeks, also Mon-Wed. Brimpton doesn't open early enough in the morning for me so DS will be going to childminder. Would be great to meet up sometime, at Little Lambs or at yours beforehand, although there is fairly big gap in ages DS loves watching older ones and trying to copy them without much success! Not sure when the toddler group in Feering is, think is at the beginning of week though. Sure they have a website somewhere, will check it out.

Twinkie1 · 03/09/2007 16:09

Hi Saz

Am back from Hols and hopefully will be able to make Little Lambs this week.

Do you want to drop in on the way and we can go together, am sure DSs will get on fine.

I live at St Andrews - hopefully this is self explanatory - well depending on what end of the village you come from - sort of opposite the Indian Restaurant!

You can come in for a coffee on the way back if you like but will have to excuse the decor - we have only just moved in and the colours are decidedly dodgy!

Tx

Hiya, only just had chance to reply. Hope you had a good holiday. Yes, that sounds good, will pop by on my way to Little Lambs tomorrow at about 10.20am if that's OK. If I can't find the house then will see you at Little Lambs (if I'm not there by 10.25am then assume I haven't found you!) Unfortunately won't be able to come in for coffee afterwards as DS has his lunch at around 12 and gets v grumpy if delayed! Hopefully will see you tomorrow. x

Twinkie1 · 05/09/2007 16:58

Excellent see you then. Jx

We are the house next to the bus stop opposite the Indian - No 113 - St Andrews.

Oh and now I have 4 friends in the village - and was told by one of them that is hot bed of swinging!!

Just do not leave fairy liquid bottle in kitchen window - is apparently the sign!!!

OP posts:
Saz126 · 07/10/2007 15:26

No way! I've been looking for fairy liquid bottles to check out my neighbours! The thought of some of my neighbours being into that is quite gross but also very funny! Are you still free this Friday? Sorry not got back to you sooner, been manic and just don't get a chance to message at work, trying to fit 5 days work into 3 days. Jamie not been too well, coughing loads at night so all being well with him this week, hope to see you Fri? sxxx
