Summerhill area of Newcastle - what's neighbourhood like?

Hi folks,

Thinking of buying a house in the Summerhill area of Newcastle for an imminent move up North. Does anyone know the area? Looks very much surrounded by busy roads and building sites according to google maps.

Does anyone know the area? Am planning to go up and look but would appreciate some insider info beforehand.

Your question caught my eye because I'd just watched BBC's House Through Time

and that features Summerhill. The programme's interesting, but is obviously historic, which isn't much use to you now
