Primary Schools - Mid Year 1 or start of Year 2?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experience moving to Cambridge and transferring to a state primary school either in the middle of Year 1 or at start of Year 2? We will be moving but are somewhat flexible with either a move in April or end of summer holidays in July.

We will be living in the centre of Cambridge and it seems most state schools in the area are oversubscribed. I'm also wondering if it's better for DS to transfer after Easter hols or at beginning of Year 2. Would be great to hear from anyone who has experienced similar. Thank you.

I would say at Easter so they can use the first term to settle and make friends, have friends to play with over summer and hit ground running in September.
