family freindly area in oxford... please advice

would you please advise best family freindly area in oxford? also near to a good primary school.

I love Woodstock and Chipping Norton and surrounding villages.

I forgot to add it that may work place will be at Headington. the transport from your mentioned area is fast?what about traffic?
also would you please let me know how is the condition of homes near the river in Park town area? is it a good area? closing to river is good or maybe had some problems like smell and insects?

Oooh ok, Chipping Norton and Woodstock definitely wouldn’t work for Headington!
Thame would if you drive, but you’d be going with traffic everyday.
Old Headington is nice. Wheatley, Horspath and Garsington are all nice and close to drive to.
If you’re relying on public transport to Headington, Headington itself might be best?
Sorry no idea re Park Town houses, but it’s a nice area.

I hope find a good primary school there. because all good schools like windmill and St.Androw are oversubscribed.
If anyone has a suggestion for a good primary school (no religious prefered) in Headington, I'll be thankful to let me know.

near the river in Park town area

Park Town is one of the most expensive roads in Oxford so if you’re looking for an area with lots of young families around it’s probably not the one. Easy enough for Headington though. I don’t know whether many kids from there would go to a primary school- if they do then I suppose one of the Jericho ones? I don’t think the river causes any problems.

Headington is really really busy in the mornings so you’ll need a school near work I would have thought. Old Headington is lovely.

It’s really pretty! Expensive for sure but not crazy Summertown expensive. And Headington shops are good.

Old Headington is much more expensive than if you look south of the London Road in New Headington/Quarry, so you’ll get more bang for your buck in terms of house size for your budget. I’m guessing your budget is large if you are looking in the Old Headington area. All of Headington is family friendly with good parks and shops.

Windmill has 90 kids a year and so even if oversubscribed, if you can hang on on the waiting list and put up with a temporary solution for the short term, it’s likely a place will come up, given that there are quite a lot of medics/academics in Headington and therefore a relatively large population who are likely to have to relocate for work or only be in Oxford temporarily. Same is apparently true with St Andrews I’m told by mum friends in that catchment even though they only take 30 kids a year

Marston (between Headington and Summertown) has 3 good primary schools. Old Marston village is pretty if expensive, other areas are more suburban.

I forget the Parktown because of traffic in the way of the work place. I hope to find a good house in Headington or marston.
I couldn't find Marston's schools as good as headingtin's schools. is it right?

St Michaels school in Marston is meant to be really good but oversubscribed so again you need to be in catchment.

Late to this but I'm a St Andrew's parent. The catchment is small, it's true, but since my child started there 2 years ago there have been 5 places 'turned over' in the class. Headington is a really transitory population so places do come up. I love living here and it's a great place to bring up children.

You do know a Park Town house costs about 3 million? Smells and insects or not.

I would imagine Headington itself is your best bet really, unless you are set on village life.
