Recommend somewhere in Scotland for me to live

Hi, I'm looking for somewhere new to live. We are lucky that we can move with our jobs and we want a fresh start - nothing bad has happened, we aren't running from anything, we're just stuck in a rut and are sick of city life (expensive, traffic etc.).

We're open to trying anywhere but we truly don't know where to start. We are looking for somewhere that is great for raising children - lots of green space if possible, but not super isolated.

My husband and I have a small toddler and are hoping to expand our family.

Anyone have any recommendations? 😊

Very near then @Merryhobnobs!

Those of you in North Fife should also try the Cheesy Toastie Shack at Kingsbarnes beach - it is fab, and award winning I think.

We went all over in the summer and my favourite place was Kirkcudbright (though it's pronounced differently to that!) way down on the South West coast. Little town. No idea what it would be like to live in though!

Well it wasn't my favourite place In the whole of Scotland but the others were lochs and beaches!

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. Is it just me or is Scotland the best place to be? I know I sound a little bit negative about my home city (which I will miss) but overall we love Scotland and all that it has to offer. Especially its natural beauty (and the cakes and ice creams etc. 😋)

I agree with NE Fife. I'd move back in a heartbeat. Currently in south Fife, which is great for access to Edinburgh but I'd rather be back home.

Hi we r also from Aberdeen & know exactly what u mean. It's an expensive area to live. We are also moving shortly for a fresh start & are hoping to move to the Lake District. So not too far from Scotland

Kirkcudbright is a lovely little place. It's closest big town though is Dumfries and Dumfries isn't as thriving as it once was. I'm from there and I know it well and it really depends on what you are looking for. Lots of green space, lots of nice cafes, excellent forests, but if you want to travel anywhere then Glasgow airport is a 2 hour drive (and a good bit of that is not motorway).

Those who mentioned cheese toastie shack - they've opened up on the beach at St. A for the summer. :D :D

and the lady from kitschnbake used to bake the cakes for Jessies Kitchen in Broughty Ferry before she opened up her own cafe.... when looking at places to buy I may have factored in her cake cafe as a top reason to move to my location. ;-)
