Help and Advice....I am moving from London and looking for a family orientated place for my family in Cambridge. I heard Trumpington is a really nice place to live and quite diverse.

Hi OP, cambridge is not as diverse as London, however it is quite diverse, more culturally diverse rather than racially diverse though IMO. Can't comment specifically on trumpington , but I would say Romsey area would probably be more diverse- if that's one of your main criteria

Cambridge is very international. It is predominantly white, but from many nations. I agree with tid's comment that it's culturally diverse more than racially diverse.
It's a great place to be for activities and jobs. Just the traffic & house prices that are hellish! TBH - sort out where work is first, then plan the potential commute accordingly.

Thank you for the positive advice. I only looked up Trumpington, as a friend of a friend relocated there and loves it! It is expensive there but on par with London prices. I will look around more in Cambridge to decide once I find a job.
I have not heard of Romsey, but will research it.

Thanks

Everywhere in Cambridge is expensive!!!

Look hard at where you'll be working and minimise the commute. Cambridge traffic is even worse than its house prices.

But it's a great area to bring up a family.

I work in a primary school in Cambridge near trumpington but not there.
We have a very very diverse population of children.
Last years class had 13 white British 5 non white British then
3 Chinese
2 South Korean
1 Russian
1 Hungarian
1 Italian
2 German
1 Bangladesh
1 Iran
It is awesome!

Depending on where you'll.be working, Romsey would be my choice over Trumpington any day.

Trumpington was posh suburbia/village not far out of town. It now has new up and middle market housing. I think it is probably ok as a place to live. A big main road into Cambridge defines it.

Mill Rd has Petersfield and Romsey Town leading off it. Both these areas have an urban vibe. Not far out enough from town to be suburbs and never far out enough to have been villages. These days quite a London vibe but still with strong community and links to the railway heritage and left wing political past.

Re villages become suburbs- in living memory (mine) Chesterton had a tiny village square and called itself a village. Locals who were in their 70s in the 1970s still had a distinct country Cambridge accent.
